2009: The Model As Muse

There was a spot of behind-the-scenes drama this year: models Naomi Campbell and Stephanie Seymour pulled out last-minute after finding out that Azzedine Alaïa would not be included in the exhibit. The Gala itself was not that interesting though. This is just about the last year of paparazzi-style coverage, soon we will be entering into proper Red Carpet territory, thank god!

later

Kate Moss in Marc Jacobs

Studio 54 but with distinctly 2009 shoes. Pretty, but rather tame for a Flagship Look.

later

Marisa Tomei and Liz Goldwyn

Marisa looks lovely, of the course, but I'm mostly digging Liz' gravity-defying neckline and tie-dye chiffon!

later

Natalia Vodianova in vintage Fortuny

Vintage Fortuny is really throwing a bone to the fashion nerds, almost surprised we haven't seen more of it at the Met. You couldn't get away with this laid-back Cool Girl styling these days, though!

later

Claudia Schiffer in Versace

Sexy, corset-y, lingerie-inspired—I will always support that. Yet, there's something kind of... cheesy? about this gown? Reminds me of La Perla's worst collections. And Claudia Schiffer is doing absolutely nothing to elevate it, she's styled for the grocery store.

later later

Kristen McMenamy and Jourdan Dunn (and Karlie Kloss is also there I guess)

No idea who they are wearing, but the gowns are nice and Editorial, so one must approve.

later

Sarah Brown in Christopher Kane

A little something different.
